This Desktop term is a bit confusing because there are two desktops with a computer. The first term of the desktop is the top of the desk where you put on your computer. The term "Top of the desk", Introduces the second term, A Computer desktop.
There is a difference between a Desktop computer and Computer Desktop. A combination of hardware and software makes a device called a Desktop Computer. A Computer Desktop is Computer Software and it is part of your operating system. When you logged in to your computer and you are looking at your operating system background image at that time you are looking at your Desktop.
What Is Computer Desktop?
The basic element of a Computer shows a different type of object which includes, Folder, Control Panel, Documents, and Recycle bin. The Desktop is Default Display when you logged in to your computer account. The icon of different software and folder and files shown on Display is stored on the Desktop.
Users can Drag and Drop items from anywhere to the Desktop on Computer. Users Can access Different computer locations from desktop using icons. Users can also make Shortcuts to files, folders, and software on the Desktop.
What items and icons are found on Desktop?
When Windows is installed freshly, The Desktop contains an Internet Browser, Recycle bin, Control Panel, and My Computer or This PC. At the bottom, You will see Taskbar. In Taskbar, You will see Notification Area, Start Button and it contains many installed Software, Clock, Internet, and also Power icon.
Desktop Shortcut Keys
Window Desktop has some Shortcuts, Window Key and D together means (Windows + D). This Shortcut key will show you a hidden window icon. Also, you can (Window key + M ) it will minimize the all open files showing on display. For restoring all minimized files and tabs You may use (Window + Shift + M ). These Shortcuts would be different. It depends on Operating System You are using.
A Feature found in Windows 7,8,10,11 is known as Aero Peek. This Feature allows you to switch desktop to app and app to Desktop. You just have to put your arrow on that and click on it you can undo these by clicking on it again.
Things you can do on Desktop
Arrow is showing on your Desktop Display is called Mouse Pointer. The Mouse Pointer has three buttons. Left-click is used to select things but if you right-click on the desktop then you will see many options in it. You can change the display setting from display setting, One more option is called View, This option is used for arranging icons on Desktop. You can change the size of icons on Desktop. Then one more option is called Sort by, This feature allows you to rearrange icons on Desktop you can rearrange the icons by date, name and time as well. If you have copied anything you may past it on desktop by right-clicking on desktop and then click on past then your file will past on desktop.
